The next ISHHR conference will be held in Peru in October 2008. To make the conference as effective as possible we need to ensure that every region affected by trauma and major human rights violations is represented. To achieve this we must collectively raise at least US$250,000 to help representatives from poorer regions to attend. It is estimated that it will cost approximately $3000 per participant, on average, for transportation, food and accommodation. Our teams are working tirelessly to get this cost down as low as possible. If many nations share the responsibility for helping a few participants attend, our goal of $US250,000 will be easily achieved.

There are a limited number of positions available to volunteers from anywhere in the world. Places will be allocated first to volunteers who help with fundraising. Any volunteer or organisation raising $US25,000 or more will receive a free volunteering trip to Peru to help coordinate proceedings. One additional place will be awarded to the volunteer who raises the greatest amount of money. These places are transferable and will provide valuable experience to anyone wanting to be involved in volunteering.

If you organise a donation from a company, please be sure to include your name so we can accredit your fundraising efforts to your tally. An Australian Charity called FRIENDS OF STARTTS Has set up a world wide raffle to help everyone with their fundraising efforts. There is a $4000 (Australian Dollars) first prize Holiday voucher for a holiday anywhere in the world of your choice. Any country that raises over $2000 will also receive additional prizes of home entertainment vouchers just for your country. The more tickets your country sells the larger the prize vouchers grow. Individual volunteers can win prizes for their individual fundraising efforts. Raise $1250 and get a $100 voucher, raise $6000 and get a $500 voucher. Raise $25,000 and get a free volunteering trip to Peru to help us run the conference in October 2008. The good news is that you don't have to raise it all yourself. The money raised by friends or other people you organize to help fundraise, gets put on your fundraising tally. Check out FRIENDS OF STARTTS for more details. All prizes are in Australian dollars.
